About Yuriko

I have been exhibiting my arts in juried and non-juried shows within the greater Baltimore area since 2019. I have been trained for watercolor, drawing, and mixed media study under the guidance of Diana Marta, a resident artist at the Howard County Arts Center. My current focus is primarily on compositions featuring figures and faces. Faces and figures composition

Faces and figures composition primarily focuses on multi-elements composition featuring human forms. Overlapping and interlocking elements, including faces, figures, and various surface textures and colors, are deliberately placed within a compressed space to convey tension and vibration, or rhythm and harmony, depending on the goal of the work.

Gestural figure studies

Gestural figure studies are primarily based on studio live model sessions with five to fifteen minutes poses. The focus is to curve out, by brushstrokes, the mass and the gravity flowing through the body, as well as limited details for giving life to the images. Interplay of negative and positive space creates environment surrounding the figures.
