Congratulations to the 36 Finalists for the 2025 Baker Artists Awards

These 36 artists were selected by a pool of 12 regional jurors for showing excellence in three areas: mastery of craft, depth of artistic exploration, and a unique vision. Baker Artist Award Finalists are divided equally amongst the website’s six artistic disciplines: visual, literary, interdisciplinary, film/ video, performance, and music.

All artists who have received a cumulative total of less than $20,000 in previous prizes remain eligible for a Baker Artist Award.

The deadline to be considered for one of the 2024 Baker Artist Awards is Monday, January 27, 2025 at 5:00PM (deadline extended!) . All artists with an active portfolio at the deadline will be automatically considered for one of this year's six awards totaling $90,000.

​​The Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA) and the William G. Baker Jr. Memorial Fund are thrilled to announce the 2024 Baker Artist Awardees. Judah Adashi (Music), Kelley Bell (Interdisciplinary Arts), Albert Birney (Film/ Video), Nguyên Khôi Nguyễn (Literary Arts), Matt Reeves (Performance), and Stephen Towns (Visual Arts) were selected as this year’s awardees.

New opportunities for Baker Artists to display and sell their work in Summer 2024 including at WTMD's First Thursday Festivals and the Waterfront Partnership's Baltimore x Baltimore Festival.

Maryland Public Television has produced and broadcast the annual Baker Artist Awards Special for fifteen years years. The format of the show, which profiles each year’s remarkable awardees, has evolved over the years in response to changes in the award structure.
