I'm a painter. Sometimes I'm not sure why. But what's the alternative? Not paint?
Over the last five years or so the work has fallen into a few categories. Closer to Home was a group of paintings that helped me sort out many past incidents that had left an impression on me. Stories and Beliefs continue to let me play out Biblical and religious scenarios that have always intrigued me. The Softball Paintings acknowledge the meditative and dramatic qualities that I encounter in the game. And Other Paintings are other paintings.
Sometimes I think it would have been easier not to be an artist. I didn't ask to be one. It just happened or maybe it was preordained. But that's what I am. I accept it and continue to wonder what I'll find along the way.
