Sarah's profile

Sarah Berger is a writer, teacher, editor, maker, and classical singer. She’s a graduate of Oberlin College and the Peabody Conservatory, and although she's been soprano-ing for the last 20 years, she recently completed an MFA in creative writing and publishing arts at the University of Baltimore, for which she produced a thesis collection entitled The Magic Tampon Machine and Other Stories. She won University of Baltimore's 2023 "Plork" award for exceptional creativity. As a handmade accompaniment to her thesis collection, she created earrings out of discarded novels and poetry books by the likes of Virginia Woolf and T.S. Eliot. She continues to make these personal adornments out of works of literature she rescues from recycling bins. Sarah is also the lead editor of the literary magazine Little Patuxent Review, and she teaches in the undergraduate writing program at UB. She's working on a forthcoming novel set in 1965 in which Johannes Brahms, John F. Kennedy, and Judy Garland all make cameo appearances.
