The concept drawings for Interspecies Dwellings began as photos of architectural urban decay or suburban infiltration and are then altered to exist as Utopian interspecies dwellings.

In these Interspecies Dwelling spaces, migratory chimney swifts have taken over war ravaged city towers, termite castles open up to landscape of lawn croquet, an underwater city has become the skeleton of a rejuvenating coral reef, and race horses (are cut loose of their Jockey's and) frolic in a carless wildflower alpine mountain city.
The Bricoleur Dream Brigade is the first psychological machine in my series on ‘philosophical toys and psychological machines’. The BDB are an underground, vigilante, rogue group who have formed to protect the sanctity of the dream state from the corrosive thoughts of everydayness. The BDB place extreme importance in dreaming, as a way to problem solve, promote escapism and to restore/conserve the mind from an information bombed world. (I would not normally disclose this but I think it is important for you to also know that I am the only current member of this fictitious organization.)
These collages are personal memories of places I've been. They are based on sketches done on location or photographs I've taken. The process of translating the original image into the collage adds a level of abstraction to the scene.

The medium is paper cut from magazines, and applied with "Modge Podge" glue. The ground is a canvas board, masonite board or mat board.

The contemporary practice of sampling has enabled an entire generation of artists to borrow freely across cultures and time periods, creating unique hybrids in a range from harmonious to jarring. My visual work has always included a mash-up of decorative structures, culled from vintage wallpaper, textiles, ancient artifacts, and home décor.

â??What Gives People Powerâ? is an oral history project focused on people defining power and control, based on their personal experience. Through interviews with domestic violence survivors and perpetrators, as well and staff and volunteers from the House Of Ruth Maryland, the project documents connections between perceptions of power and the cycle of violence. The resulting stories give voice to the stigmatized issue of domestic violence, while bringing to light the diverse ways and means that people empower themselves.
