another developing series of small to midsize work exploring the connections and disparities between painting, sculpture, collage, and assemblage. the pieces range in size from 9" X 9" X 5" to 17" X 16" X 8".

rudiments

a developing series of small paintings examining basic tenants of surface, support, color, and collage. painted on copper flashing or tailor's horsehair and simply attached to reclaimed wood "stretchers." the paintings range in size from 8" X 8" to 23" X 23".

bodybuilders

In competitions, bodybuilders are judged not by how much weight they can lift, but by the appearance of their muscles (size definition, symmetry). I am fascinated by this semblance of strength: the desire to appear strong, as opposed to a desire to actually be strong.
