Voices of Baltimore Documentary

A Full-length documentary dedicated to illuminating the powerful, vital, and often unseenmisunderstood or downplayed world of Baltimore’s Poetry Culture.Vision /Story - Is to shine an overdue spotlight and recognition on a backgrounded form ofart that Baltimore has to offer. The project is about more than poetry. It will show the hardwork and dedication the community has put into building itself. I want to illuminate how these artists come together, supporting and uplifting one another, and giving another positive outlook on Baltimore. Baltimore is a city defined by its grit, its resilience, and most powerfully, its unmistakable voice. This voice finds its purest expression in the city’s poets-the literary historians, the social commentators, and the raw storytellers who shape our identity on open mics, in community centers, and across social media platforms yet, their profound influence remains largely uncaptured and unfunded. Capturing the unwritten History: “The Voices of Baltimore ” will move beyond simple performances to offer intimate, biographical portraits of poets who are actively using language to transform their city.

The film will Feature:

• Intimate access: Deep dives into the lives and creative processes of established

literary figures and emerging slam champions

• The city as a muse: Exploring how Baltimore’s distinct neighborhoods, challenges,

and triumphs directly fuel their creative work.

• Legacy and future: Documenting the mentorship and community building that

ensures poetry remains a vibrant, generational force in the city.

I believe that by preserving and amplifying these voices, we are creating a

permanent cultural record and inspiring the next generation of storytellers

So, we can forever say “Poetry is not dead”. This is more than a film; it’s aninvestment in Baltimore's legacy.
