Inheritance

Inheritance is a photographic project exploring generational memory, displacement, and the ways history lingers in place and people. Captured in my father's homeland of Pakistan, the images navigate the tension between familiarity and estrangement, documenting landscapes, architecture, and daily life that reflect both the weight of lineage and the distance of time. Through a focus on family portraits, built environment, and intimate human moments, the project examines how migration and inherited trauma shape one’s sense of belonging. By tracing the echoes of personal and collective histories, Inheritance considers how geography, memory, and identity intertwine, inviting viewers to reflect on what it means to return to a place that feels both known and distant.
