Animal Obscura

My artwork is focused on self-discovery, resilience, and personal growth, utilizing allegorical narratives to explore the internal struggles and states of compassion and reconciliation. Through these stories, I hope to inspire empathy, understanding, and a greater appreciation for the range of beauty and complexity in life. My paintings of animals bring together bright contemporary colors and sculptural texture with a classical style. Symbolizing a more freeing narrative for a new sense of expression by embracing both the rational and emotional within tradition.

I am committed to challenging conventional societal expectations concerning domesticity and power dynamics such as binary gender roles and ideas of limited agency. By exploring the domestic sphere through storytelling and metaphor, I seek to reclaim it as a space for self-expression that transcends institutional and cultural norms. My goal is to encourage viewers to reflect on how unquestioned societal norms may limit the expression of emotions and inspire people to interrogate their own assumptions in order to embrace what society may dictate they suppress. Ultimately, my work seeks to promote empathy, understanding, and a more interconnected and compassionate world through the symbolism of animals and objects.
