UFOs. Ghosts. Bigfoot. Human consciousness. Lost history. Unexplained phenomena. Heavy metal. Are they connected? For Seriah Azkath, the host of a popular underground radio talk show and podcast WHERE DID THE ROAD GO?, they certainly seem to be. In this intimate documentary portrait, Seriah relates the story of his life and his career, discussing his own mysterious experiences and how they intersect with ideas and theories raised by notable authors interviewed on his show.

Seriah Azkath has been working in radio for almost 30 years, hosting a number of programs including the popular underground heavy metal show THE LAST EXIT FOR THE LOST on WVBR Ithaca. He is also a lifetime experiencer of strange phenomena, and he explores topics of the unexplained on his weekly podcast called WHERE DID THE ROAD GO?

Unlike many paranormal podcasts that focus on creating scares, Seriah’s show attempts to explore the unexplained in as many different ways as possible, throwing out old assumptions and exploring different things from new angles. As an host and producer, his approach is much more philosophical; fair, compassionate, open-minded, and focused on people.

This is the is the primary reason I chose to create this brief document of his life and his work, and finding answers to the unexplained phenomena discussed is less a priority. Because when it comes to unexplained phenomena, it is just that. Unexplained. These phenomena have been reported throughout history and across cultures and yet no one as of yet has produced answers for them. If nothing else, they are a human experience, one that is reflected very well in Seriah’s own unique story.

Working one last job for the Bureau of Land Management, archaeologist TOM DIGBY finds a strange mound on an old ranch in a remote corner of the American southwest. Trouble is, Tom cannot stop digging into the mound's history- uncovering a bizarre secret protected by the locals - that might cost him his life. Or something worse.

THE HILL AND THE HOLE is expanded from renowned sci-fi/fantasy author Fritz Leiber's short story published in the collection "Night's Black Agents." Shot on location in New Mexico with a skeleton crew and a gonzo production schedule, the film weaves together elements of cult cinema, b-movie horror, and conspiracy culture and features a standout performance by famous author and "crackpot historian" Adam Gorightly.

An experimental film based the classic weird fiction anthology "The King in Yellow" by Robert W. Chambers, CORPSE uses a fractured narrative of surreal flashbacks and dream sequences to tell the story of a C-list reality TV star, her best friend and a group of young entrepreneurs who encounter a forbidden book which induces madness in those who read it.

This film is intended to be an exegesis of The King in Yellow as an inspired text, existing as both a cinematic work and also a "mystical interpretation" of the book's hidden meanings. Since publication in 1895, the source material has, in many ways, embedded itself into the deepest cracks of today's collective unconscious. The book now carries with it more that a century's full weight of imaginal and cultural engagement by readers and writers. Therefore, I imagined Corpse as film that tells the story of The King in Yellow not through a direct narrative but through visionary metaphor: a collage of imaginal gestures and tropes, using the cinematic language of psychotronic visuals, melodrama and surrealism to communicate densely packed, multi-symbolic concepts.

Thus, the process and choices made while developing and molding the project were built around systems of visionary divination, drawing on numerous sources ranging from experimental performance and rehearsal techniques to Surrealist and Situationist art strategies of indeterminacy to Qabbalistic numerology, sigilization and ritual magic.

The goal of the film, at the end of the day, is not to tell a story but to convey the inspired landscape of a collective dream.
