Alleluia

Alleluia is a multigenre exploration of praise. Of the universal human connection to expressing the joy, vitality and gratitude that come from being alive. It is the most common shared experience that is at the heart of communication and artistic expression. In a world that seems to be increasing it's intolerance of each other's traditions I am looking to find a way to hit upon the central core of what unites all people, the place where there is no division. "God does not remember which door you came in through"
This Alleluia uses authentic praise material from different social and religious heritages and merges them with a recurring theme. The first is an Afro/Cuban section with singers/dances/drummers with a SATB chorus, strings and keyboard. Sections now added are Austrailian Aboriginal, Hindu, Hebrew, Celtic, Mayan, Christian Buddhist, and culminate in a full cacophony that joins them all together.
The first section was premiered last year with 2011 seeing the Hebrew, Hindu, and Celtic sections following. The entire piece is intended as a full theater production and a movie storyboard is in the mix.

Improvisation of the masses

A live concert is a time to explore uncharted territory, both as a solo performing artist and as a collaborator. I engage the audience to join me in creating new music on the spot. The audience gives ideas of color, images, stories etc and I weave them into new "soundscapes". From Chinese New Year, Alien alligators, Italians in Brazil to the Twin Towers falling on 911 (and of course Mexican squirrels doing what they do best) Of course I also explore my own material of solo piano, which is always changing with every performance.
