  • Stuck
This song is a feeling of entrapment brought on by the expectations of society, family, and oneself. Frustrated, sad, and daunted by seemingly unattainable goals, yet continuously pushing forward. "Stuck" laid incomplete for at least a year. All I had written were the first four notes. Now it has grown into a beautiful work that I am proud to have created. Clarence Ward III's flugelhorn is prominently featured on the melody with Justin Taylor contributing a powerful piano solo. Recorded at Heartwood Sound Studios in Waverly.

Dis Here - Live at Creative Alliance

  • Ed Hrybyk - Dis Here - Live at the Creative Alliance
One of the most difficult of my compositions, "Dis Here" features a pulsating bass ostinato that modulates between 4/4 and 5/4 time. The horns have highly syncopated interlocking lines and the piece culminates with a drum solo by Allen Branch (BSfA class of '08). Tune For Rick

This is a song I wrote after the passing of my dear Uncle Rick a few years ago. On the album it is recorded as a guitar/bass duet but at the CD release I decided to try it as a quartet featuring Clarence Ward III on flugelhorn. I love what he does with the melody.
