Hi :)
I am Gillian, a 27-year old professional oil painter, living and working in Baltimore, Maryland for the past 6 years.
In my art, I fuse together elements of symbolism, abstract expressionism and realism. I consider my art practice a method of prayer and meditation. I believe that the process of creating the painting plays a huge role in the piece’s meaning. Creating art is a way to engage in a language with aspects of reality and existence that often escape attention in our daily lives — the many transcendental inner&outer processes of growth, transformation, death and rebirth, which we are always moving through in cycles.
My passion is for the magic of the practice and process of art-making — both partaking in it myself and sharing it with others. I am currently teaching art workshops which combine art with meditation, in collaboration with the Hall of Self yoga studio in Canton. Since 2019, I have exhibited and vended art in local group showcases in Baltimore, at venues such as the Impact Hub, Creative Labs, Eclectic Goods Market, and Baltimore Free Farm.
Currently, I am continuing on the journey of expanding my network with artists in other cities, creating unique art shows and events to inspire both creators and collectors.
