Gillian McCaney is a 24-year old contemporary mixed-medium painter, living and working in Baltimore, Maryland for the past 3 years. In her art, she fuses together elements of abstract expressionism and realism. Her work celebrates femininity and softness, showcasing themes of natural growth and transformation.
Gillian’s art journey began at a very young age, and she began taking formal painting classes in high school. She continued to study studio arts and art history at Susquehanna University and Montgomery College. During this time, she began working as a freelance artist. She worked as a contracted designer for Great Shoals in Silver Spring Maryland, where she put on her first solo art show. She has exhibited and vended art in local group showcases in Baltimore, at venues such as the Impact Hub, Creative Labs, and Baltimore Free Farm.
Currently, she is continuing to further her artistic skills and knowledge through a program with Milan Art Institute. She is working to expand her network with artists in other cities, creating unique art shows and events to inspire both creators and collectors.
