Anna's profile
Anna Pasqualucci is one of only a handful of local artists who continue to embrace century old Baltimore folk art of window screen painting. Each hand painted window screen is a heart-felt work to be displayed in a gallery along the streets for all to enjoy. Anna treasures the unique character of the folk artsy form that is like no other. Her functional screen paintings allow the sun to shine on them so they glow with vibrant colors while letting a breath of fresh air to pass through them. At the same time, they forbid curious onlookers from catching much more than a glimpse beyond the painting and into the privacy within the heart of the home.
I love transforming people’s dreams and treasures onto their own personalized house window screens. Bringing a smile to passersby faces is a true honor and the greatest reward.
I am a disabled artist who, after many years working with in my hands in biotech research labs, now find it difficult to hold a pencil to draw or write. I can still cradle the paintbrush and make delicate brush strokes on flexible and forgiving screens like the ones I had so admired during my childhood. Screen painting is therapeutic for the hands and the soul.
