Pamela's profile

I am a native Marylander, artist and teacher. I earned my BFA from MICA, my MFA from Queens College, CUNY, and my teaching certification from The University of Notre Dame of MD. I taught elementary art for 29 years for BCPS. I loved nurturing the creativity of my students and was inspired by their curiosity and inventive ideas. As a teacher, I discovered that most children are natural born artists.

While teaching and raising a family, I always remained committed to making time to work in my studio, which is in a converted barn behind our home. When I am starting a new project, I look for an interesting subject to explore. I then begin with close observation. The more I time I spend looking, the more peculiarities I notice. These observations add character and distinction to my artwork. Recently, I have been experimenting with printmaking. The unexpected that happens when using new techniques has given me a fresh approach.

My artwork reflects my romanticism. Immersing myself in my family, art, music, and the outdoors has helped me to remain an idealist. I have a deep connection with the Hereford area of Baltimore County, where I have lived for 25 years. Observing the natural world around me has provided me with an endless source of ideas and imagery.
