I have explored the outdoors of Maryland my entire life.   I like to find special, hidden away places to paint.  I look for evidence of history and time embedded in the landscape.  I find many ideas observing  the land around my home.   

I love exploring the  gestures, textures, shapes and moods that are inherent in trees.  They each have thier own character that constantly changes with the light, seasons, and weather.  I like to take my time to get to know them.  

Maryland is a special place to me, partly because of it's water.  My state offers such natural diversity and has been a leader in conservation.  I  live near  Gunpowder Falls and its tributaries, which all flow into the Chesapeake Bay.    I especially enjoy experiencing the water  by kayak and watching it change from  the weather, wind, and light.   

I am a passionate gardener and like to observe how things grow and change.  

I have enjoyed printmaking since my days at MICA. Recently, I returned to printmaking after I was encouraged to take a  class at TSU.  I took an Intaglio class in the Fall of 2025.  I was attracted to the range of tones and textures one can achieve with Intaglio.  The possibilities  are endless.   I am excited to be taking another class in Spring 2026

I learned how to create reduction linocuts recently.  It was a helpful experience for me to break down an image into graphic shapes.  The layering of the colors in reduction made me consider color in a new way. The process helped me to think more about deconstucting and  reconstructing my work.
