Mikki's profile
I started drawing because my mother is an artist and was always drawing. When I saw her pull out a pencil and paper, I automatically pulled out a pencil and paper. I was her biggest fan and wanted to be just like her. As I grew older, I realized I drew for me, for my fascination of the subject. I was, and still am fascinated and awe struck by the mystery of how creation occurs. When I start a drawing, I have no idea where it’s going or how it will turn out, so I am often amazed.
Drawing gives me with a sense of accomplishment and meaningfulness. I especially enjoy drawing faces and hands. I work in many mediums: acrylics, pen & ink, pencil, pastels, charcoal and paint. I love to examine the soul behind the eyes and the lines of the human body. Every portrait I draw provides me with the opportunity to create a work of art that exhibits both inner and outer beauty. A work of art that will, hopefully, live on for generations.
I am a native of Baltimore City. I’ve been a graphic designer and artist for over 25 years. After high school, I attended the Art Institute of Philadelphia, where I studied graphics and fine art.
After graduation, I began my career as a graphic designer. I’ve since been a senior designer, art director and a production manager. Now I’d like to concentrate on my art. Throughout my career, the love of art I learned from my mother has not diminished.
