Hannah's profile

Hannah Atallah is a muralist, sculptor, and multidisciplinary artist based in Baltimore, MD.

Collaboration is at the heart of Atallah's practice, as she often partners with educational, healing, and cultural organizations to create pieces that resonate with local communities. She has created murals and exhibited fine art across Baltimore, the US, Mexico, and Jordan, earning her recognition in the form of awards, residencies, and commissions.

Through her art, Atallah strives to explore cultural narratives and foster connections within communities. She thematically constructs paintings by combining interviews and photoshoots of living cultural workers with archival research materials. Drawing on her diverse background, which includes Palestinian, Lebanese, and Irish heritage, she incorporates sacred geometrical motifs, symbolic motifs and Arabic calligraphy in her work. Ultimately, her work aims to honor Arab cultural workers and the rich artistic legacies of the Arab world, reclaiming imagery connected to Arab histories, cultures, and experiences while simultaneously attempting to imagine concepts that extend beyond the limitations of the present.
