Michael Harris is a Smart Ass Texan with a Shakespearian sensibility. Currently in the midst of a lifelong experiment to determine what happens when half the people you love are Redneck Christians and the other half are Artsy Progressives.
An actor/improviser and screenwriter, Michael has lived in Baltimore for almost two decades. He has created a number of full play length, genre based, improv shows including: Bah Humbug--A Christmas Carol (Mostly) Improvised, Law & Order SIU--Special Improv Unit & Choose Your Own Election, featuring Baltimore Sun & Economist Cartoonist, KAL. Michael has performed & taught with BIG (Baltimore Improv Group) since 2006, as well as serving as Executive & Artistic Director from 2010-2017.
Michael’s screenplay, Dad Asses, (then called Premium Economy) won the 2023 Baltimore Screenwriters Competition in the Features category. He wrote & performed Too Hip for the Room, a series of monologues & sketches, as part of the Charm City Fringe Festival in 2018.
A member of Actors' Equity & SAG-AFTRA, Michael has performed locally at the Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, Centerstage, the Creative Alliance, the Kennedy Center, Studio Theater, and Signature Theater amongst others. He has been an invited performer at Comedy & Improv Festivals from Philly to Austin and Chicago to NYC.
Michael is a teaching artist with Chesapeake Shakespeare Company and a faculty member at Hood College (Frederick) & the National Conservatory of Dramatic Arts (NCDA) in D.C. He has taught improv & acting since 2005 to thousands of Marylanders, aged 6 to 86.
