This is a song I wrote after the passing of my dear Uncle Rick a few years ago. On the album it is recorded as a guitar/bass duet but at the CD release I decided to try it as a quartet featuring Clarence Ward III on flugelhorn. I love what he does with the melody.

The OPEN BOX Project is an evening-length collaboration between Rogue Collective and Orange Grove Dance featuring compelling music and dancing. Performed in the vast tunnels of Dupont Underground, the architecture serves as rich inspiration for this interactive evening, which explores how space, material, light, and sound affect the experiences and actions of their inhabitants.
After having composed two string quartets I had an urge to augment my third with flute and clarinet.  Sometimes such "urges" do not end up fulfilling their promise, but in this case I feel that it did!  The added coloration kept presenting more ideas, and I decided to go with each of them-- which in the end accounted for a kind of  kaleidoscopic ambience.  Having many years of improvisational background in the fields of folk, blues, and jazz musics, this piece turned out to be a very exciting one for me.  I hope the feeling is contagious!

"I need a chance to smell the roses before I grow old and die" sings gala on "bare bones" a song from her debut ep, "gala." the accompanying film, aims to magnify and celebrate simple moments of beauty and wonder. carefully cropped and framed images of natural wonders like soft flowing waves atop golden sand, the shiny flesh of an orange, and the wet crevices of honeycomb. These otherworldly visions all combine and collide in the film, and blur the lines between our reality, memory and dreams.
