I believe in the power of our stories, that telling and hearing stories is healing, that building and creating is empowering and that our stories are connected through the objects around us. As a performer and artist, my work explores objects as vocabulary used to tell stories. As a trained actor, clown and puppeteer, I use all of these skills to engage audiences through humor and sadness. I work to communicate beyond words: through music, through the life of objects, and through our shared humanity.
Cora Sone is a light heavy band from Baltimore. The trio features singer-songwriter Abby Becker on lead vocals and guitar, Patrick McMinn on modular synth, bass and keys, and Sam Balcom on drums. We achieve dreamy, glitched out, stuttering, and utterly unique sound by sending Becker’s lead vocals through the modular synth. The band started with a question: what happens when two people are playing one instrument at the same time? We grew to embrace rhythmic divergence, allowing time to expand and collapse in a style evocative of Becker's background in Klezmer music.
Celestial themed abstract elements mapped to the architecture of the Peabody Library for In The Stacks 8 to accompany music performed by Mind on Fire.

Tahir Hemphill is a creative technologist whose practice investigates the role systems play in the generation of form and the role collaborative knowledge production plays in the resilience of communities. Tahir uses computational analysis to draw out what is usually unseeable in the semantic structures within large bodies of archival text. Coming of age in the 1980’s Tahir divided his time between practicing different elements of Hip-hop culture and exploring cyberspace with a dial up modem.
White Wing Dove is a project that aims to unite artists and observers across genres through a mutual love of music and performance. We look to take recorded live concerts and transform them into accessible, inclusive, quality works of performance, utilizing and showing off the generosity and talent that exists here in Baltimore in unique combinations. With this style of performance, a community is built amongst the performers, so that while each song in the set is a unique combination of players, the entirety of the show is cohesive and impactful.
Showcasing the cherished connections between Druid Hill Park and surrounding neighborhoods, the Arches & Access project illuminated and activated the historic Druid Hill Park Gate at Madison Avenue, Druid Hill Park, and the Rawlings Conservatory with colorful lights, a community parade, and a public party. On the evening of November 3rd, 2019, over three hundred residents, artists, and performers transformed Madison Avenue at Druid Park Lake Drive into a spectacular, roving block party.

Night Suite is a captivating exploration of musical storytelling, seamlessly blending the spontaneity of jazz improvisation with the structured elegance of classical chamber music. Drawing on elements of classical-jazz fusion, this original Suite unfolds as a richly textured narrative, where each movement reflects a different facet of the night’s mystery, stillness, and uncharted depths. Rooted in an interdisciplinary approach, the Suite weaves together lush harmonies, intricate counterpoint, and dynamic interplay between piano and imagined ensemble textures.

I was commissioned to write a piece for The Walters Art Museum's Art/Sound/Now series in 2018, and again in 2019 for the series’ 5-year celebration. Inspired by the beautiful paintings in the Walters’ Landscape Gallery, I created Light/Dark, an immersive electroacoustic piece composed specifically for the space.  The score for Light/Dark integrated both composed and improvisational passages for the viola with field recordings I captured in Patterson Park (Baltimore, MD) and North Point State Park (Edgemere, MD).
Liz Meredith’s long-awaited follow up to her self-released debut solo LP presents four new minimalist pieces for viola, electronics, and tape loops. Wielding a rich palette of densely laden string textures, tape squelches, and searing tones, Liz shows her mastery of the slow burn.  Cover art is screen printed with magenta, yellow, and silver spectrographic renderings of the tape loop sources from these compositions.
