Founded in October 2008 by Amanda Fair, both a poet and dancer herself, Poetic Xpressions Dance Company is a brand new company based in Baltimore Maryland that combines some of Baltimore's best spoken word artists and poets and PXDC dancers to explore both political views and the human experience showing true emotion and reaching the public on another level. The company does this by both giving both the poet's words a second life and stepping away from the norm of only using your usual music track typical for dance performances. Each of the annual concerts include live spoken word artists performing onstage along with the dancers.

PXDC intends to bring new, moving, and well-rounded works to the stage. The company rep. is a combination of very light and fun technically challenging pieces as well as other works that explore controversial issues such as race, religion, sexuality and events current and past.

Poetic Xpressions Dance Company performs Classical Ballet, Contemporary Ballet, Modern and Modern-Jazz. Each of the dancers play a huge part in the Maryland dance community individually as both artists and leaders.

We are a company of eight and all of our company classes and rehearsals are held at The Community College of Baltimore County's Catonsville campus and Inertia Performing Arts.

I am a dance instructor who has taught at numerous schools here in the city of Baltimore. I am cuurently teaching at The Community College of Baltimore County (Essex and Catonsville), Rayn Fall Dance Studio, Inertia Performing Arts, Poetic Xpressions Dance Company weekly open dance classes, and continuing to offer private dance lessons to some of the city's most promising students. The private lessons prepare them for performing arts high school auditions, college auditions and company auditions.

I am a poet, spoken word artist and published author. My published work includes three books, To All Who Can Relate, Revealed and UnSpoken Words. My Spoken Word CD is entitled JOURNEY. I am currently working on getting my new work published. It is a book of poetry entitled Inner Struggles and New Beginnings: The Re-Birth. My book release will be scheduled in 2010. I have been performing on the spoken scene here in Baltimore for11 years now and began writing at the age of seven. My second book of poetry. Revealed, was voted Baltimore's Best Poetry Book at the 2006 People's Poetry Awards.
