Sky Portals (2019)

Some of my most memorable and uplifting experiences involve watching clouds. Sometimes it’s been through a plane window, or through binoculars. Once I witnessed evening clouds through James Turrell's "Skyspace" in Sweden. But mostly it’s been from the ground with bare eyes. As an avid cloud watcher, I am drawn to the infinite variations in shape and color those magical tufts of water vapor can embody. Cloud forms are a challenge to replicate because of the way light interacts with them, their hard and soft edges, and their inconsistent shapes.

Inner Stories Figurative Paintings

April M Rimpo's Inner Stories figurative paintings tell stories about the person portrayed as compared to a typical portrait. The stories could be their favorite activities, something about the culture they live in, or their history.    These paintings reflect things the subject  told April about themselves or maybe April's personal impression of their inner spirit.  Lastly, these inner stories may reflect the subject's favorite thing to paint if she too is and artist.  

Entanglement Thesis Exhibition

Entanglement explores the interconnection and complexity of our climate crisis, employing saturated hues and abstracted imagery to investigate nature’s immense resilience and simultaneous fragility. Paintings, sculptures, and installations convey the delicate entanglement we share with all of the flora and fauna of our biosphere.

Connected explores the power in even the smallest of influences and their potential to unite into something much greater than their individual voices. Fabricated out of thousands of fused nails, this sculpture embraces our connections and recognizes the worth of each individual, as well as our collective impact.
