    Colorollstories MURAL BREAKFAST

This mural, titled Breakfast, is part of the #COLOROLLSTORIES 1Mural1Book INITIATIVE , where people fund murals by purchasing the Colorollstories coloring book. Unlike previous projects, this story began spontaneously on the wall and later evolved into a coloring book. It reflects the essence of Colorollstories: fostering creativity in diverse, spontaneous ways.

In the spring of 2025, we will invite the community to help color this Stories mural, continuing our mission of creating and connecting through art.

About Machioli

I am Pablo Machioli, a self-taught artist from Uruguay, born in 1976. After emigrating to Baltimore in 2003, I discovered the power of art in 2012 as a way to cope with stress. Over time, it evolved into the core of my life and identity. As a street artist, muralist, and digital illustrator, I strive to create works that ignite mental freedom and invite others to engage directly with my art, making them a part of the creative process. I believe my work is best understood through personal… more

What is COLOROLLSTORIES?

COLOROLLSTORIES is a hand-drawn, scroll-format coloring book created by Baltimore street artist and muralist Pablo Machioli. This unique and innovative project began when Pablo was painting on a bridge in Baltimore, where passersby would often stop to share ideas, stories, and feedback about his artwork. Inspired by these interactions, Pablo transformed this community experience into COLOROLLSTORIES—a tool that invites multiple participants to contribute to a continuous piece of art, fostering creativity, storytelling, and connection.

What is the 1 Book, 1 Mural Project for Schools?

The 1 Book, 1 Mural Project is a unique and innovative opportunity to bring this vision to your school and community. By participating, students will embark on a journey that begins with collaborative storytelling and coloring, culminating in the creation of a mural designed together. This project sparks creativity, encourages teamwork, and leaves a lasting visual legacy.

How it Works

    1.    Start the Journey
• We provide a COLOROLLSTORIES scroll coloring book as a collaborative art tool.
    2.    Collaborative Storytelling
• A COLOROLLSTORIES artist will host a creative workshop with students, where they collaborate to develop unique ideas and narratives for the book.
    3.    Create a Custom Coloring Book
• Based on the ideas from the workshop, we design a custom COLOROLLSTORIES coloring book, hand-assembled by our team of artists.
    4.    Fundraising and Mural Planning
• The custom books are sold for $33 each. Every book sold funds one square foot of the mural. The mural will be based on the design created during the workshop and painted in black and white by COLOROLLSTORIES artists. Students, staff, and the community will join to add their colors, transforming the mural into a collective masterpiece.
    5.    Paint and Celebrate
• Students, staff, and community members join in to paint the mural, celebrating creativity and teamwork.

The Colorollstories Candombe MURAL

The Colorollstories Candombe mural was created in 2024 as part of the Jasper Beautification Project, where Colorollstories collaborated with the community to bring this cultural celebration to life.

This mural is a vibrant representation of Afro-Uruguayan culture, inspired by the traditional music and dance of Candombe. It captures the rhythm, energy, and communal spirit of this tradition, which originated from enslaved African people in Uruguay and has become a vital part of the country’s cultural heritage.

The project included a special community painting day, where participants came together to add color to the mural while celebrating the tradition of Candombe through art and music. This collaborative effort showcased the power of art to connect people, foster cultural appreciation, and bring vibrancy to the community.

The mural’s black-and-white design, a hallmark of Colorollstories, allowed the community to be part of the creative process, transforming it into a living work of art that embodies unity and celebration.

The Colorollstories Candombe story is a celebration of Afro-Uruguayan culture, focusing on the vibrant tradition of Candombe music and dance. This cultural art form, rooted in the rhythms of African drums, symbolizes unity, resilience, and joy. The story unfolds visually through the Colorollstories mural, which serves as a giant black-and-white canvas that the community helps bring to life by coloring together.

    How Colorollstories Candombe Connects People

This project is designed to foster connections on multiple levels:

    1. Cultural Awareness: By celebrating Candombe, the story educates participants about its rich history and cultural significance, creating a bridge between Afro-Uruguayan traditions and diverse audiences.

    2. Collaborative Creativity: The mural invites individuals of all ages and backgrounds to participate in coloring, promoting teamwork and a shared sense of accomplishment.

    3. Community Celebration: Events like community painting days incorporate live music and storytelling, creating an immersive experience that builds relationships and memories.

    How the 1Book1Mural Project Works

The 1Book1Mural initiative connects the sale of handmade Colorollstories coloring books to the creation of murals. For each book sold, one square foot of a mural is funded, creating a sustainable way to bring art into communities.

    • The Coloring Book: Each book features stories and designs inspired by the mural and serves as a portable piece of the project, allowing supporters to engage creatively at home.

    • The Mural: Once funded, murals like Candombe are painted in black and white, becoming a shared canvas for the community.

    • Community Engagement: The mural’s completion involves a collaborative painting event where participants add color, transforming the artwork while fostering a sense of ownership and connection.

The Colorollstories Candombe mural exemplifies the project’s mission: using art to celebrate culture, inspire creativity, and unite communities while sustaining public art through the simple act of purchasing a coloring book.

COLORINGHOOD 2024

The Coloringhood Project 2024 by Colorollstories took place at the gallery of the 410 Loft Apartments, located at 410 Eutaw Street. This vibrant community initiative transformed the gallery into a hub of creativity and connection.

As part of the 1Book1Mural project, a large black-and-white mural was created on-site, designed to be colored by the community. The event invited residents and visitors to participate in a day of collaborative art, drawing inspiration from handmade Colorollstories scroll coloring books.
