Trial in the Woods
In 2017, Sarah Jacklin commissioned Stephanie Barber to write a new play, with a single request: that it explore the silence of owl flight. What emerged was "Trial in the Woods," a hybrid musical fable and crime procedural that explores the origins of violence and the possibilities of restorative justice. Trail in the Woods debuted at the Mercury Theater in 2018, and has since been published by Plays Inverse and is available in print at: http://www.playsinverse.com/catalog.

Trial Production credit: Dave Iden (2018)June 2018, I produced, costumed, and directed Trial in the Woods, a new play commissioned from the artist Stephanie Barber. Woods is a courtroom drama, in which a tight-knit community of animals put the very notion of punitive justice on trial after the murder of a young wolf disturbs their sense of fairness.
The Lord of Flies
In 2015, Sarah proposed a devised Lord of the Flies adaptation to the resident company of the Annex Theater, asking- can we create a collaborative piece about the will to power? We mostly learned that there would need to be a K-POP dance number...
Sarah Jacklin, Jake Budenz, Madison Coan, Ryan Kidwell, Sarah Lamar, Ren Pepitone, Maura Dwyer, Dave Iden, and Maddy Scott wrote, choreographed, and acted in this semi-immersive piece about power and contagion.
8 Short Plays
Sarah Jacklin co-directed "8 Short Plays," a surreal vaudevillian variety show, in collaboration with Theresa Columbus. The production weaved together selections of Columbus's short plays and individual cast performances into a loose narrative exploring family, dreams, inner monologues, art-making, and beans. Cast and Creative Team: Sarah Jacklin, Malaika Clements, Theresa Columbus, Cliff Doby, Sarah Jacklin, Elvis Karegeya, Megan Livingston, Parker Matthews, and Rae Red, Allison Clendaniel, Nicolette LeFaye, Mika Nakano, Chris Allen
Blood for Dracula
Sarah Jacklin directed an adaptation of Paul Morrissey's "Blood for Dracula" (Andy Warhol's Dracula) as part of Free Fall Baltimore, in partnership with Psychic Readings Company. The 2017 production reexamined the film's themes through a contemporary lens, exploring power dynamics and predatory behavior. Ishai Barnoy, Nina Kearin, Mike Smith, Marian Keramati, and Danni Tsuboi
