About Patricia

My art is full of stories born from my memories, my everyday life, and its struggles, and most importantly my need to be an inventor of my own universe. My influences are many. Film, literature, music, the natural world, -as well as ancient and contemporary art in all corners of the world.
I love the things art is made from. Paper, sumi ink, pigments, glue…From them I see an endless conversation waiting to be brought to life.

Heads

For most of my artistic life I have been making heads on paper, on canvas, on any surface where I could explore my fascination with real and imaged people. My process starts off as feeling an inkling of a character that I can see a shadow of. After putting the paint down and letting it soak into the paper I turn it over and continue the painting with sprays of water to bring out parts of the face I like. After that initial phase I pause and think and look until I decide what the head needs to become fully formed.

People With Wings
