Margaret Atwood's book, "The Penelopiad" was the inspiration for this series of paintings. I pulled certain images from the story of Penelope, left behind when Odysseus sailed away. For example, she wove a shroud to keep the suitors from her doorstep. She undid her work every night because once the shroud was completed, she would have to marry one of her many suitors. Another example are the twitching toes of the maidens murdered by Odysseus upon his return.

I layer the material until the piece can stand alone.
