About Megan
Baltimore City
I am a Baltimore-based photographer and musician, born and raised Maryland. I graduated from UMBC in 2013 with a BFA in Photography after receiving my Associates of Arts Degree from Anne Arundel Community College. I utilize film and digital mediums, though I more consistently shoot medium format film which I find beautifully poetic and life-like. Though some would say I was most recognized for my live music photographs of the Baltimore punk, rap, and nightlife scenes, I find that my love for… more

Ongoing Self-Portraits
I tend to photograph myself when I'm feeling the most. Heartache, anger, apapthy, grief. When I feel I need the most self-reflection, when I need to feel grounded, and when I want to document a moment in time.

2013 Senior Project at UMBC
In 2013, my senior year at UMBC, I lived with my boyfriend, and our row-home in Hampden was broken into while we were out. My laptop, hard-drive, medium format camera, were all stolen from me. It was devesating. Not only did this affect my senior project, as the files were all on my harddrive that was stolen, it ruined my relationship with my boyfriend. We both already struggled with severe depressiona and anxiety, especially during the winter months. The burglary was really hard on us, too.
When he ended things, I moved out into a small room in a friends house in Hamilton. I then decided to focus my senior photo project on my mental health and our break-up. I chose to take photos when I was feeling the most, or not feeling anything at all, numb. The photos here are some of the many I chose to enlarge and print and hang like a grid during my senior show exhibit. My ex and his family were actually there for this, in support.
