fire: art destruction and renewal
On August 17th, a fire raged quickly in my house and destroyed some of my best paintings. Worse, two of the three cats didn't survive; that was unquestionably the most tragic outcome.
The paintings that were destroyed were among my favorites; they represented many hours spent painting, perfecting. However, the great silver lining is that the fire occurred while I was at work and no humans were at home. Many other paintings, including some very good ones survived intact, or at least salvageable, and I am determined to continue painting the cityscapes, railroad scenes and other things that I want to capture their special beauty.
