In the late 1990s I worked on several Projects with victims of domestic abuse in the UK and the USA. 
Some of the Projects included working with women in the States of Nevada and Idaho. I also worked on the Comfort Women series and  
 the Japanese Government has only recently apologized for the outrages acts committed towards  women. (Korea,China)
 I lived  in London(2002-2014-3)and worked on several projects with victims of domestic abuse. Included is a work "Dress of Sorrows"
which was created from this experience. Also included are some works created in the late 1990s and 
recent work in 2016 (FORCE Upsetting Rape Culture). A collaborative project with
My Sister's Place, Baltimore City.

I have included earlier works in order to show the development in my work and the progress over the years.

    An earlier work that relates to the series that were created in the 1990s -2000. This work pays homage to the Comfort Women who served the Japanese Soldiers during World War 11. The work is mixed media using mosaic,clay,and fabric. Measurements: 36"x36"x3" 1996

    The solo exhibition at the Delaware Centre for Contemporary Arts, in 2002 was entitled "Dowry Brides". It relates to the dowry issue in India where the advertisements for young brides sometimes result in forced marriages. A large sum of money is paid by the brides family. The large installation shows the saree (garment) worn at weddings with the advertisements stitched and printed.

    A detail of "Dowary Brides" Installation.The image shows a young bride whose parents have put her image on the web for marriage. The advertisements often show details of the woman i.e. complexion, family status etc. The image is digitally photographed and the text is stitched on saree fabric. The colour red is symbolic of the colour of the attire often in red and can have several meanings.

    The image is symbolic of passion, anger etc. Tunnel of Fire was created after the series of Dowry Brides and can have several meanings. In this image it symbolizes the pyre where some widows throw themselves over when the husband dies. It can also mean no escape from a forced marriage.

    This recent work 2016 in collaboration with victims of domestic violence -My Sister's Place, Baltimore. The work was exhibited at the BMA last year and was part of the Sondheim Award -Force Upsetting Rape Culture.This work will be exhibited at the National Mall this year together with hundreds of quilts from participants from every State in the country. The work is mixed media plaster of Paris, stitch,text and collage. Measurements : 48"x48"x6"

    The Cabinet of Curiosities -Dress of Sorrows was an invitational Project at Kensington Palace, London. The work was created from my experience of working with victims of domestic abuse in London. The universal dress relates to victims all over the world from honour killings (murder) as it is known in some countries is practiced everyday wherein a brother, father,mother,husband commits the crime and is left unspoken. The work is mixed media, stitch,fabric. Installation 2010.
