Guitar ASMR - The Beginning
The first song in a new series brought to the Lee Allen Sounds YouTube page. This is a piece that was written, recorded, and edited all in one week. Only having one camera however, Lee recorded himself performing this identical piece 8-10 times. Each take was audio recorded using a single microphone with the camera placed at a new angle in order to obtain all of the footage.
This will begin a regularly occurring series where original songs will be featured in similar intimate ASMR styles. Marking another chapter of growth in Lee's development as an artist, this instrumental series will focus on the balance of layering, placing guitar alongside other traditional and non-traditional instruments. Lee's second video iin the series s currently in production and will incorporate Devon Kardell on the Pan Drum as well.

Welcome To Collaboration Laboratory
Introduction video about Co.Lab edited from a compilation of footage from the workshops and interviews with participants after the very first Co.Lab Collaborative Writing Session on January 15, 2024.
"The Collaboration Laboratory is a uniquely empowering creative opportunity for singers, writers, rappers, instrumentalists, and musicians to meet with others in their community and write music together..."
About Lee
Lee Allen Schimmel is a versatile multi-instrumentalist whose work focuses on connecting with other artists to form a stronger community of creatives. His writing is inspired by an eclectic musical background stemming from classical, jazz, class rock, soul, theatre, and more. Surrounded by musicians and heavily involved in one of the most reputable and well-respected school theatre programs, Lee received extensive vocal training throughout high school. A grown-up “theatre kid,” Lee's… more
Palindrome
The first project that peers into the collaborative and community-minded vision of Lee Allen Schimmel. Before leaving Philadelphia, Lee had a vision to release a number of EPs each featuring a different producer, set of musicians, and visual artist in order to bring each EP to life. In his first release, Lee Allen collaborated with Philadelphia Producer Alan Lee, inspiring the name "Palindrome" to record a selection of songs written between 2008 and 2012. Each song was recorded in a single take with 4 room microphones at P.A.R.S in Manayunk, Philadelphia.

Here We Go Again
One of the oldest songs contained in this collection, written in 2008, but brought to new life again in 2011. Many of the songs in Lee's early writing connects with the emotional journey that is taken into adulthood through relationships. This song illustrates the initial emotions of angst at the end of a tumultuous relationship, and then reflecting on why the relationship felt so impactful to begin with.
-
Anyway
Anyway is a song written in 2010 while Lee Allen Schimmel was living in Philadelphia. Like much of the writing in his early work, this song conveys the emotions that we often experience in a youthful "crush". The lyrics reflect on the hopes and nervousness of being around someone new and exciting.
-
Piranha Betty
In what has become one of Lee Allen Schimmel's most well-regarded songs, this is one of the earliest recordings of the song. Written in 2011, this song was inspired by a local art gallery named "Piranha Betty" asking artists to paint their own representation of the name.
Live at LeStat's 10/7/12
In his second visit to the West Coast, Lee performed at one of the mainstays of many West Coast musicians the Lee was hopeful to follow in the footsteps of. Lee performed at the well-regarded LeStat's Coffee House in San Diego, California. In this live show recording, Lee performs songs almost exclusively written in the months leading up to the show. While several of the songs reflect on the end of a relationship that occurred in the months leading up to the show, some of the pieces also started showing Lee's emotional growth as songs ventured more into introspection and self-actualization.
-
Live At LeStat's Album CoverAfter traveling to California for an opporunity to perform at the San Diego Convention Center, as well as connect with other local musicians, Lee returned months later in order to share a bill with musicians John Hull and Trevor Green. The album cover represents a collection of photos taken during this second trip to Califronia, including images of locations from San Diego to Los Angeles.

Go Slow
Go Slow is one of the pivotal songs that marks growth in Lee's writing and his journey toward writing songs that are more conceptual rather than always being based on tangible events. This has become another of Lee Allen Schimmel's most popular songs that has stood the test of time as being a deep and introspective song about reflecting positively about the ups and downs of the journey through life.
-
My Muse
My Muse marks the end of a chapter. An intentional end to reflecting on a relationship that ended, but being able to reflect on it positively for the lessons learned both during and after the relationship.
-
Until You Smile
Marking another song in Lee's growth as a songwriter, the lyrics in Until You Smile focus about maintaining a positive mindset in the face of obstacles.
Lee Allen Sounds
After taking a years long hiatus from performing, Lee began to reconnect with music through the Baltimore music scene as Lee Allen Sounds. He continued to pursue his collaborative music efforts, quickly connecting with other local musicians and songwriters, as well as various other creatives throughout Baltimore at local open mics and shows, and quickly became a name being talked about frequently among the local muician and songwriters circles. Lee can now be found regularly performing both original music and arrangements of popular songs as a solo artist, and frequently serves as an accompanist to various local artists providing percussion, guitar, and harmonies anywhere from VA to PA.
Lee Allen Sounds has performed as an opener to nationally touring bands Mike Pinto Band and Joint Operation at the 8x10, and has most recently been invited to perform as a full band at local events at Monument City Brewing Company and for Sandwich Stock in Bel Air, MD and is rehearsing for upcoming performances. As both a solo artist and as a band, Lee Allen Sounds performs a collection of original music written by Lee Allen Schimmel from 2009 to 2025.

Collaboration Laboratory (Co.Lab)
Collaboration Laboratory (Co.Lab )is a collaborative songwriting experience designed to bring singers, songwriters, and musicians together to create original music in real time. Through guided workshop-style sessions, participants are placed into small, supportive groups where they collaborate, write, rehearse, and ultimately share brand-new songs—all in one night.
At its core, Co.Lab is about more than songwriting. It’s about building local music communities by lowering the barriers to collaboration, encouraging creative risk-taking, and fostering genuine artistic connection. For both the experienced musician and someone exploring collaboration for the first time, Co.Lab offers a welcoming, no-ego environment where every voice has value. By centering collaboration over competition, Co.Lab helps strengthen local music scenes, spark new creative partnerships, and remind artists that they don’t have to create alone.
Co.Lab goes beyond developing and connecting artists - it also creates a platform for them to perform in front of newer and bigger audiences. Co.Lab plans and organizes events through its connection with other local community and event organizers in order to provide music from local musicians.
And all of this is with the intention to share our ideas, efforts, obstacles, and successes with other communities looking to develop their own local art and music scene.
