Modern Art Meets Cubism

Welcome to my new Series, Modern Arts Meets Cubism (MAMC). A new revolution in the world of art! As I explore the hidden secrets of modern art, a vision for me appears that mirrors daily life, the play of light across everyday scenes, an exploration of ways to use simple colors, and definitive forms to express emotions. This series is a combination of over sixty paintings influenced by Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne, and Pablo Picasso. Skill without imagination is craftsmanship and imagination without skill gives us modern art.

Modern Art Meets Cubism - Activism Meets Justice

A tribute to many of the faces that have fought for social justice, the view that everyone deserves equal economic, political and social rights, and opportunities. Social justice isn't a cause that has an end. It is a medium that keeps accountability and justice going. An activist can be anyone, but it's beyond just claiming the title; it's being involved with a community. There are four different types of justice: distributive (determining who gets what), procedural (determining how fairly people are treated), retributive (based on punishment for wrong-doing) and restorative (which tries to restore relationships to "rightness").

Modern Art meets Cubism - Reflections of the Holocaust and Strange Fruit

Disclaimer: The images presented in this series of artwork are a reflection of the atrocities documented by historians. The content may be considered inappropriate, disturbing, and difficult to absorb for some people and should only be viewed by those older than 18. Parental guidance suggested.

Remembering those who has suffered during those perilous times. As an artist I follow my vision and where it leads me. Hence came forth, the birth of reflections of the holocaust and southern tree.

The Holocaust (1933–1945) was the systematic, state-sponsored persecution and murder of six million European Jews by the Nazi German regime and its allies and collaborators. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum defines the years of the Holocaust as 1933–1945. The Holocaust era began in January 1933 when Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party came to power in Germany. It ended in May 1945, when the Allied Powers defeated Nazi Germany in World War II. The Holocaust is also sometimes referred to as “the Shoah,” the Hebrew word for “catastrophe.”

The American Atrocities: Southern trees bear strange fruit, Blood on the leaves and blood at the root, Black bodies swinging in the southern breeze
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees. This series is up for donation, the Holocaust Museum any associations wish to honor the living and the dead.

Modern Art Meets Cubism - At The Asylum

For over a decade, I have been recognized in art shows and through online galleries as a resilient and vibrant artist. Most recently, my work has focused on giving a voice to the voiceless. From that perspective, my latest series, Modern Art Meets Cubism - At The Asylum is a full representation of what life is like in such a dark world. This Series was created as a result of my experience seeing homelessness and mentally ill citizens in and around my communities. Today, as a country, we struggle to deal with the conditions of mental illness now affecting one in five Americans per year. Clinical Depression and Anxiety Disorder are the most common. The proceeds from this series will be donated to asylums with needy cause.

Modern Art meets Cubism - Cuban Experience

The Cuban Experience is featuring the lifestyles of Cuban tobacco farmers and women cigar vendors aka "Jineteras,” female prostitutes, smoking cigars. These farmers and vendors play a critical role in tourism. Every year, around 100 million premium cigars are handcrafted in Cuba. Professional rollers called torcedores make each one by combining leaves from different varieties of tobacco. Cigars are sorted by color, checked for flaws, and then boxed for sale. Carlotta the Cigar vendor, won the Juror's Choice Award at Howard County Art Council, Art Howard County 2021 exhibition.

Modern Art meets Cubism - The Coal Miners

A tribute to all the coal miners in the mining industry. People have worked as coal miners for centuries, but they became increasingly important during the industrial revolution when coal was burnt on a large scale to fuel stationary and locomotive engines and heat buildings. Owing to coal's strategic role as a primary fuel, coal miners have figured strongly in labor and political movements since that time. These are some of the many faces representing such community.

Modern Art meets Cubism - Weeping Willows at Giverny

The Weeping Willow series at Giverny was created while I was on tour at Giverny in France, home of Claude Monet the renowned master of Impressionism. It was an amazing experience painting this series as it brought me closer to my original inspiration of impressionism. The mountain veiled in mist is not a hill; an oak tree in the rain is not a weeping willow. It usually wears light green foliage with long thin leaves, it has Asian roots, it has quadruple 'U' for initials, it is a Weeping Willow. "Cry not for me my willow tree, don't shed your tears eternally, because I found the love I have been waiting for" -Alton Ellis.

Modern Art Meets Cubism - A Look at DC

"A Look at DC" was inspired by Claude Monet's Cathedral paintings. As I traveled daily throughout the Capitol city, I just could not resist the monuments and their surroundings. From sunrise to sunset, it's amazing to behold the beauty of the shimmering light effects that echo from the bricks and walls of this great city. It's been stated, "With columns, curves, lines, horizontals, and verticals, this city shall stand strong." In this series, I bring you "A Look at DC."
