Jonah's profile
Jonah Brock is from a small railroad town in central Illinois. In 2021 he received a B.A. in Visual Art and Art History from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs. His work has been exhibited in various locations, such as the Museum of Art Fort Collins in Fort Collins, CO, GOCA-Galleries of Contemporary Art in Colorado Springs, CO, Disruptor Gallery in Colorado Springs, CO, Memento Mori Gallery in Denver, CO, and Night Owl Gallery in Baltimore, MD. Currently based in Baltimore, MD, by day he works in exhibition preparation for the Howard County Arts Council. He is also a curator, currently putting together an exhibition of all transgender and gender nonconforming artists for Night Owl Gallery in 2026.
Jonah makes paintings, videos, drawings, and sculptures. Occasionally, he also writes and performs. His work talks about the body. He is inspired by psychoanalysis, horror films, and subcultures. He's interested in queerness as a site of the uncanny, and the anxiety and fascination surrounding transgender identity. Pairing the transsexual and/or disabled body with surreal imagery, his work calls to monstrosity, intimacy, loneliness, and the divine.
