Baker Artist Portfolios

I make cut-paper dioramas, animated films, weird music, and code for the internet. I’m happiest when I combine all of these in my narratives. I have a BA in music composition and an MFA in studio art.

My work has been featured in two exhibitions at the American Visionary Art Museum (The Art of Storytelling and The Great Mystery Show). I’ve received an Independent Artist Award and a Creativity Grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, and my films have earned awards at festivals in the U.S. and internationally. My website, https://jimdoran.art/, is a central part of my practice; I coded it to serve as a living archive where nearly everything I create is documented and shared.
