Erica Lorrie is an artist based in Baltimore, MD. She earned her BFA in Painting from Boston University and an MA in Medical and Biological Illustration from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Lorrie spent more than a decade as a medical illustrator, technologist, and award-winning artificial intelligence (AI) strategist in international development before returning to full time to her studio practice. Through painting, she offers an artistic reaction to the rise of AI systems she once helped to create. Her experience working with AI and data-driven, computer vision challenges her to paint from a purely human space, creating visual fields rooted in instinct, energy, and the undefined. Lorrie’s paintings have been included in various exhibitions on the East Coast and are held in private collections in the US.
