Denise's profile

After a 20-year break from painting, and following a trip to the south of France, my desire to pick up the brush again was ignited. I had been exploring other creative endeavors such as collage and jewelry making but seeing such incredible art at the many museums in France, I was compelled to paint again.
In my early life, I painted primarily with oil and less frequently with watercolor. Now it was time to explore using watercolor.
The year was 2019, just before the pandemic hit. Perhaps this was an auspicious time of isolation!
You will also find some acrylic paintings in my portfolio. I'm new to the medium but appreciate some of its qualities.
Over my lifetime I have received much instruction both privately and on the college level. My earliest success was when at 7 years of age, I won a spot on a local television station to show my latest creation, a large paper mache frog. Sure wish I had a copy of that interview!

I am a retired psychotherapist living with my husband in Baltimore City. Nature has always called to me and I enjoyed many wonderful experiences back-packing in the northeast and the western US mountains. In more recent years my travels have taken me to some spectacular hiking spots. My inspiration comes from Mother Nature and the magic all around us! I strive to communicate that sensation in my paintings.
