Collis Donadio 's profile
Shannon Collis and Liz Donadio are Baltimore-based artists who combine their backgrounds in photography, digital video, and sound installation to create works that explore public spaces, uncovering details of their past, present, and possible futures. Their immersive installations conjure meditations on the essence of urban landmarks and monuments and examine the ways humans transform and inhabit the spaces around them.
Collis and Donadio have been collaborating since 2016, creating works that aim to build a deeper connection between the sensing body and the world, blurring the boundaries between physical and digital spaces. They employ deep sonic resonance and dynamic moving images through multi-channel projections paired with immersive sound. Their work portrays the complex and intricate ways humans impact and interact with their environments.
Their collaborative works have been exhibited and screened nationally at venues including the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, the Academy Art Museum in Easton, MD, InLight Richmond Festival, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, VA, and the ICA Baltimore. Most recently they completed an artist residency at The Voxel, a black box theater in Baltimore which culminated in an immersive installation.
Shannon Collis is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, where she teaches digital media and sound. Liz Donadio is an Associate Professor of Photography + Media at Northern Virginia Community College, Woodbridge.
