Baltimore Rock Opera's profile

Founded in 2009, the Baltimore Rock Opera Society (BROS) is a passionate community of artists creating original live rock theater for metropolitan Baltimore. The BROS vision is to showcase the creativity and talent in Baltimore’s arts scene through workshops and performances that bring people together, strengthen communities, and highlight Baltimore as a desirable place to live.
BROS has produced a new original large-scale rock opera every year since 2009, and has recently added a second regular smaller-scale performance to the programming calendar. These non-traditional productions showcase an alternative side of theater and cover a wide range of thematic material, making the art widely accessible to a broad range of audiences. BROS aims to diversify its performers, creative community, audiences, and thematic material to successfully appeal to all, while challenging ourselves and our community. BROS is supported by more than 150 active volunteers including actors, singers, writers, designers, builders, musicians and artists. It is important to note that a significant portion of BROS’ “volunteers” are active professionals and most are, indeed, Artists. While many contribute their time and talents without compensation, key production contributors are paid modest stipends and/or honorariums.
