Alex French is an Artist, Writer and Independent Art Curator based in Baltimore, MD. French earned his BA in studio art and creative writing from Warren Wilson College in Asheville, NC and studied extensively at the Art Students League of New York under the late WPA Artist Anthony Palumbo, among others. His artwork has been exhibited widely, is in multiple private collections, and communities have united around his public murals. A published poet, French’s writing has been featured in multiple publications, on public radio and archived in the American Folklife Center of the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. For over twelve years, French has curated innovative art exhibitions which frequently present regional artists alongside international artists to expand cultural contexts. Through empathy, collaboration and interdependence, his exhibitions strive to counter the historically violent results of narrowing perspectives.
