Candace's profile
Candace Scarborough is a performer, choreographer, and teacher from Baltimore, Maryland. She has performed and collaborated with AndaryDance, Graham Brown, Denise Leitner, Ashley Thorndike-Youssef, maree remalia-merrygogo, Helen Simoneau Danse, PearsonWidrig DanceTheater, Tariq O’Meally, Robert Priore, Britta Peterson, Orange Grove Dance, and Kendra Portier. In 2016, Candace was invited by Ohad Naharin to train with Batsheva Dance Company in Israel and was certified as a Gaga teacher in 2017 under the artistic direction of Bosmat Nossan. Candace’s choreographic work has been presented at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage, The Clarice, Dance Exchange, Joe’s Movement Emporium, Highways Performance Space and Baltimore Theater Project. Along with her artistic collaborator Samantha Mohr, Candace received a 2019 Rubys Artist Grant to create velvet pony, a live-action and animated dance film which premiered in 2021 and was presented at The Clarice, the Museum of Wild and Newfangled Art, and Cinema du Clef in Paris. Candace recently completed her postgraduate degree in History at the University of Roehampton in London.
