Robinson Muñoz was born in 1943 in Chile.  After receiving his medical degree, he moved to North America in 1967, where he studied Psychiatry and Psychoanalysis.  His medical practice specialized in work with children and adolescents.  Art played a significant role in his practice, since he developed an interviewing technique that used drawing and painting as a medium of communication.  He also researched the issue of creativity in adolescence and wrote a chapter on this topic for the Handbook of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Dr. Muñoz was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Maryland Medical School.  He retired in 2000, at which time he enrolled in the Post-Baccalaureate program at the Maryland Institute College of Art, receiving his certificate in 2001.  Since then he has dedicated himself full time to painting and drawing.  He has had 3 solo and 2 group exhibitions in Baltimore galleries.
