david's profile

David Eberhardt became a peace protester, pouring blood on draft files in 1967 against the Viet Nam war. He was incarcerated at Lewisburg Federal Prison for 21 months, which led him to 33 years of work in the criminal injustice system. He wrote a memoir, For All the Saints, about his time in prison and how it also led to work with peace activists. In addition, he published four chapbooks of poetry and has read all around the Baltimore area. His work is not just a voyage into the heart of the 60s peace and civil rights movement, it is work to be continued. The blood-pouring was an instance of making history; the project and samples submitted to Baker for this award may make achieving non-violent peace more possible.
