Baker Artist Portfolios

Caitie Curtis is a Baltimore-based artist whose practice responds to pressing political issues surrounding trauma, sexual violence, and equity. As a victim-survivor of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, Curtis dissects the systems that perpetuate and normalize sexual violence. Her work explores the intersections of interpersonal relationships and institutional power structures, questioning how these dynamics shape lived experience.

As both an educator and artist, Curtis employs visual art and writing to spark dialogue, encouraging viewers to reflect on how frameworks such as state legislation and individualistic ideologies sustain a culture of bodily harm. An alumna of Towson University, she earned her M.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art. Curtis maintains an active studio practice and exhibits regularly in local and national museums and galleries, continuing to advocate for victim-survivors through research, education, and creative work. In March 2026, she will participate in a two-week residency at the Vermont Studio Center.
