Craig's profile

Craig’s artistic journey began with an abundance of sketched doodles, which steadily developed into an impressive catalog of vibrant, fantastically painted worlds. Over time, his creative efforts have resulted in numerous art exhibits, a self-published ArtStory book with another forthcoming, a compelling photography portfolio, and a collection of more than 135 art journal YouTube videos.

Craig’s extensive body of work is a testament to a whimsical yet meticulous creative process. His approach starts with the formation of abstract geometric and organic shapes, which he then skillfully embellishes with his distinctive personal touch, infusing each piece with what can only be described as “pure Craig-ness.”

His early training as a draftsman is clearly reflected in the precision of his illustrations. Craig’s imaginative mind invites viewers into his uniquely whimsical watercolor and oil-painted scenes, each characterized by both technical excellence and playful creativity.

Craig’s role as a short-term art educator of five years, is an integral aspect of his artistic profile. His teaching expertise is apparent in the approachable nature of his numerous videos, which are consistently imbued with his unique quirkiness and dry sense of humor. These qualities not only make his instructional content engaging and accessible, but also reflect his singular personality, inviting viewers into his creative world through a friendly and entertaining lens.

During the early 1970s, Craig immersed himself in photography classes, where he gained experience working with both color film and color slides. Another course focused on the fundamentals of black and white film, guiding him through the process of developing negatives and utilizing darkroom techniques to create finished prints. Throughout these formative years, Craig concentrated on achieving a thoughtful balance and composition within his photographic subjects, laying a strong technical and artistic foundation.

After setting photography aside to pursue other artistic avenues, Craig has, in recent years, returned to his passion for capturing images. This renewed interest led him to explore the digital SLR camera format, allowing him to further develop his skills and adapt his keen sense of balance and composition to contemporary photographic techniques.
