Anthony Ross's profile
"...the dashing arrival of Horatio (Anthony Ross Ocampo) in the Hamlet segment of this performance, played with grounded gusto the likes of which seem unmatchable. Ocampo...slips into this bravado-strong performance, catching the eyes and the attentions of everyone in the audience. When he shifts into ‘the executioner’ it’s like watching a mind-blowing magic trick; that’s how distinctly differential his performance is."
- Amanda N. Gunther, Theatre Bloom (2025)
Anthony Ross Ocampo or, aro, is incredibly thankful for that astronomically kind review. As the above critique of his performance of the multifaceted, Henry Erving, in, Christopher Durang's, The Actors Nightmare, it's worth to note that this is, Ocampo's, first critical review. For Ocampo, these kind words serve as a humble reminder; that in pursuit of creating or living honestly through imaginary or very real circumstances, the importance of the faith that must be had in oneself, the willingness to stay actively listening to our the shared time lived and the support we must give each other to want to continue this pursuit, must hold firm.
Anthony is a budding filmmaker and actor, born and raised in Baltimore, MD, planting his boots firmly at home. Anthony is certain of Baltimores blossoming booming voice and is only interested in growing that collective chant, as well as growing along side it. His earliest days of performing start as early a three year old in back to back productions of The King & I and Pocahontas with Dundalks very own, Skies The Limit.
Immediately after graduating from Perry Hall High School, Anthony ventured off to the perpetually sunny streets of Philadelphia's, University of The Arts. There, Anthony petitioned to keep and study, The Sanford Meisner Method for it's final year, in this once historic sanctuary. Making his class the last students to study this method at this school. Sadly, in 2024, after a long period of endless transitions, the school was closed. Ocampo, with great respect to the legacy of facilitates and champions committed to the discovery and longevity of these deeper truths, hopes to plant as many seeds in place of one fallen but mighty tree that sheltered, nurtured and inspired so many.
After leaving University, still desperately searching for understanding and wanting to commit to a communal good, from 2017-2021, he served honorably as a Marine. Unfortunately, this was during a time of great isolation and fear for himself and his country. However, now, in 2026, these fears have been amplified. As has Ocampo's duty, not to the United States Military, but to all in search of security and understanding.
On Baltimore stage's alone, he's lent his martial experience to The Serpent Lenca Warrior, Motal in LEMPIRA, for Baltimores Rock Opera Society (2025). He wore multiple faces, even one without a face, for Rapid Lemons Production, as a wide array of characters and their, Variations on Night (2025). Most recently, he slinked his way inside of a fatal cabin in, Murder on The Orient Express (2025), as the titular mafioso, Samuel Ratchett (aka. Bruno Cassetii). Thankfully, as combat choreographer and special effects artist on this show, he was also able to safely suffer the fate of his twelve righteous assailants repeatedly for a very audible crowd. (2025)
Currently, you'll find Anthony working closely with Charm City Filmmakers as he cultivates his crafts both in front and behind the camera. And of course, as his first time in the directors seat with Orpheus by Dumpster Fire. A hybrid film staged production that he'd be honored to present, for the first time in front of a live audience, a piece the represents the proof in the process, as well as the windfalls that blow us off course from our preferred destination. And proof, that a piece will always live as long as someone alive needs to hear it, and of course, if it's given home.
Too close out a far too long short story, it's a comfort to, Anthony Ross, to finally understand, after almost 30 years, what it feels like when you allow your work to speak for itself. Or, in the case of this profession, when you allow yourself to speak and do truthfully. Thus, allowing the created work to start a dialogue with anyone else listening. The freedom that conversation brings and the friends who aid, with every bent ear, to understanding. As one of the many witnesses to the ephemeral, that is his mission. To support artists with the compulsion to engage, speak and encourage the conversation of building towards the focus of our community.
Thank you for your consideration and I can't wait to see what we can all DO together!
