Sideworld's profile
Sideworld is a Baltimore based autonomous art collective operated by queer and trans filmmakers Julia Cooke, Lilith Videt Weeks, and Isaac Lucy. We create unsettling, campy films and artworks, while also organizing large-scale community events. Our affiliated colleagues comprise of long-time creative collaborators and a bevy of friends local to our community. Our free community events allow local artists in Baltimore and beyond to showcase their works and personally connect with new and existing audiences. We aim to tie two sects of the Baltimore art scene together in a tangible way, and to connect Baltimore-based artists with artists in other cities up and down the East Coast to create a tighter, more connected and intimate art scene. We exhibit this through free, immersive, easily accessible social events and spaces where creatives can meet and network, and where attendees can enjoy films and art made by locals. In a time where art and artist spaces are being infringed upon by government overreach and corporate interests, our art collective is against financial and socioeconomic barriers, gatekeeping, and censorship.
