Allyssa Ray Yamaguchi, born in 1991 and based in Maryland, is a contemporary oil painter known for realistic figurative works on panels and canvas. Her art uses a reductive technique and a monochromatic color palette to explore how fantasy offers insights into reality. Allyssa holds an MFA in Studio Art and a Graduate Certificate in Arts Management from American University, Washington, DC. As an accomplished artist and educator, she has exhibited widely across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia areas, with notable exhibitions like “Bloom Where You Are Planted” at Girls Who Paint Gallery and “Those Spaces Between Us” at the Torpedo Factory Art Center. In 2018, she completed a residency at the Chautauqua School of Art and was featured in publications including EcoTheo Collective and Canvas Rebel in 2023. A member of the Montgomery Art Association, she also served as a Grant Review Panelist for the Maryland State Arts Council.
