Melku's is mostly self-taught his developed love for drawing guided him to pursuing his art as a painter full time (in 2016), creating paintings with his preferred medium acrylic and soft pastels; however Melku explores any medium that best flow with the message of the art piece. Influenced by African art, Portraiture and Expressionism, his art features bold colors and dynamic compositions making his paintings easily recognizable by his use of a primary color palette throughout all of his work, every painting is designed with red, gold, green and black. Color that reflect elements of Rastafari culture and African liberation throughout his paintings. Among his professional works he has several mural installations in various communities throughout Baltimore city, and proudly having many of his original pieces of Art in the homes of several private collectors from in Baltimore, Brooklyn Ny. even throughout the Caribbean. Currently, Melku is further developing Murals as he instruct Baltimore youth through art workshops, while he prepares new works for his first solo exhibition.
