Melku's is mostly self-taught his love for animation and drawing guided him to pursuing his art as a painter full time (in 2016), creating paintings with his preferred medium acrylic and soft pastels; however Melku explores any medium that best feels the message of the art piece. Melku is primarily influenced by African art, and Portraiture, he creates works that honor his people and Culture he has a bold use of Ites,Gold, Green colors/tones in his compositions making his paintings easily recognizable by the color palette throughout all of his work, every painting is designed with red, gold, green and black. These color reflect elements of RasTafari culture and African liberation, that has been the original message throughout his paintings. Among his professional works he has several mural installations in various communities throughout Baltimore city (His home town), and proudly having many of his original pieces of Art in the homes of several private collectors in DMV, NY. even throughout the Caribbean. Currently, Melku is further developing Murals knowledge as he instructs Baltimore youth through various art workshops, as he prepares new works for his first solo exhibition.
