Timothy's profile

Timothy Prieto (he/him) is a multidisciplinary artist & designer currently based in his hometown of Baltimore, by way of Hong Kong and the Philippines. He received his BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where he studied Interior Architecture with a focus on Adaptive Reuse. After graduating in 2021, he returned home to begin a professional career with a team of interior designers working on large-scale commercial and residential projects across Baltimore City.

Work aside, Timothy began playing with clay in 2022 during the inaugural Black and Queer-led ceramics program, Bmore Clay Series, organized by Victoria Walton at NoMüNoMü. He then enrolled in a few introductory courses in wheel-throwing at the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) under the guidance of Lauren Tolbert. The following year, he began enrolling in both wheel and handbuilding classes at Baltimore Clayworks and the Potters Guild of Baltimore. After enrolling in ceramic classes for over three years, Timothy was officially accepted as a member of the Potters Guild in 2025.

Timothy’s ceramic work is a combination of decorative and functional household items + playful interpretations of tableware. His work ranges from flowerpots for growing plants, spouted Chawans (Matcha Bowl), and most notably, his egg-shaped platitos. He is also interested in experimenting with traditional Asian pottery forms, particularly the Filipino Palayok and Korean Moon Jar. More recently, Timothy now teaches introductory-level ceramic workshops at Seeing Green Studio alongside owner & instructor, Amanda Ly, and the talented artist, Murjoni Merriweather, in the Arbutus/Halethorpe neighborhoods of Baltimore County.
