Anna's profile
Anna Child (b. South Carolina, United States) is an artist committed to the act of discovery inherent in her multilayered abstract painting process. Her current work utilizes observation based charcoal drawings, memory, and cut outs to build and disrupt a previously unknowable image. She was a two year Penland School of Crafts Core Fellow (Penland, NC), and studied painting at the New York Studio School and Maryland Institute College of Art. A Maryland State Arts Council grant recipient, she has been an artist in residence at Byrdcliffe Artist Colony (Woodstock, NY), the Vermont Studio Center, and will be a resident at Virginia Center for the Creative Arts in January 2025. PS Marlowe (Phil Sanders, Asheville, NC) will publish a suite of her monotypes in December 2024. She lives and works in Baltimore, MD.
